Tough Mornings?

If you are tired of firghting with your kids to get them ready for school or daycare in the morning, I’ve got some tips!

Getting everyone out of the house on time can feel like an impossible task. Kids are fighting you, fighting each other, fighting everything! It’s frustrating and who wants to start their day like that?! Here are some easy things you can do to change up your mornings and start more peacefully.

  1. Change the order of what you do. A lot of people I work with struggle simply because their kids wake up and play first thing. This means the transition to getting ready is even more difficult because they are stopping something they want to do to do something they don’t like, to then go do something else they may not like. So, instead, get the kids ready first thing. Then, with any time they have left, they can play.
    • Note: This may not go smoothly at first. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it! It just means it’s a change and kids don’t like change. Give them a heads up that things will be different and stick to it!
  2. Motivate them! Kids may not like waking up, getting ready, or going to school. So they won’t be motivated to do any of it and you’re more likely to fight. Instead, offer a little reward if they are able to get ready without problems. You can start by offering something small every day after they’re ready for the day and then work up to doing it every week and eventually be able to fade it out.
  3. Give them a visual. If your kids are like mine, they get super distracted! You can make them a visual with pictures or words to help them stay on task.

Combine all three tips to make your mornings go more smoothly than ever!
